Newcastle United have made contact with Fikayo Tomori’s representatives as they plot a move to sign him this summer, sources have told Football Insider

St James’ Park chiefs are keen to ascertain the England international’s interest in a return to the Premier League ahead of next season.

Tomori, 26, has spent the past three years with Italian giants AC Milan after joining them in a £25million deal from Chelsea in 2021.

Tomori is under contract at the San Siro until 2027.

Newcastle plot Fikayo Tomori deal after securing Lloyd Kelly signing

The Canadian-born defender has been a constant in the AC Milan side since deciding to leave Chelsea for more first-team opportunities three years ago.

Tomori helped the Italian giants secure the Serie A title in 2021-22 and has made 142 appearances for the club.

The centre-back started in 32 of his 35 appearances last season and played 90 minutes in both of AC Milan’s Champions League games against Newcastle.

Despite starting for England in a friendly against Australia last October, Tomori wasn’t selected as part of Gareth Southgate’s squad for this summer's European Championships.

Newcastle

Newcastle have now been in contact with Tomori’s representatives about a potential return to the Premier League after getting a first-hand look at him last season.

Eddie Howe is looking to bolster his backline following long-term injuries to Sven Botman and Jamaal Lascelles, while Paul Dummett has been released.

A deal for Kelly has already been confirmed after sources told Football Insider Newcastle had agreed a “triple-your-money” contract to sign the centre-back later this month.
