Freddie Woodman will look to quit Newcastle United this summer if he remains down the club's keeper pecking order, Football Insider understands.

The goalkeeper, 23, has established himself as a Championship star during his loan spell at Swansea City this season and will soon enter the final 12 months of his deal.

A Newcastle source has told Football Insider that Woodman will hold talks with the club at the end of the season about his future and where he fits into Steve Bruce's plans.

There is a growing expectation that Woodman will look to permanently leave after seven years on the books of the north-east giants.

The Premier League outfit do not want to lose the youngster but may be forced to cash in if he pushes for the exit.

Martin Dubravka is the undisputed first choice at St James' Park and signed a lucrative new contract earlier in the season, while Karl Darlow and Rob Elliot offer experienced back-up.

Newcastle have sent Woodman out on a series of loans in recent years to help him develop and his latest spell at Swansea has been his most productive yet.

The former England Under-21 international has played every minute of the Welsh club's 37-match Championship programme and kept 11 clean sheets.

He extended his Newcastle contract last summer but it runs only until the summer of 2021.

The United hierarchy have high hopes for Woodman and believe his value has rocketed to £10million this season.

He has only played four times for his parent club despite being talked of as a future star ever since his role in helping England win the Under-20s World Cup in 2017.

Woodman is now on his fifth loan after previous spells at Aberdeen, Kilmarnock, Hartlepool United and Crawley Town.
