Bruce must 'walk out' of Newcastle after 'disgusting' dressing room leak - McAvennie

Steve Bruce must leave Newcastle United as unprofessional players have made his position untenable through constant training ground leaks.

That is according to ex-Premier League goalscorer Frank McAvennie, speaking exclusively to Football Insider amid a season littered with damning reveals at St. James’ Park.

A Newcastle star told Football Insider that he has never seen a dressing room implode like theirs has in recent weeks.

That news comes after Bruce voiced his frustration with the “disgusting” leaks after he confirmed reports of a bust-up between himself and Matt Ritchie in early March.

McAvennie claimed that the manager has been backed into a corner by the constant succession of exposés and that his position at the club is now irredeemable.

“I think he has to walk out,” he told Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs.

“It looks like he has a problem with the players. Steve will get annoyed because it’s a different environment now and he’s always going to be arguing with players.

“That happens every day, every week on the training ground, managers and coaches being at it with players.

“Unfortunately nowadays, people are putting it about on social media. Keep it private. That’s not a team showing togetherness, is it?”

Football Insider revealed that Bruce will receive a £4million pay-off if dismissed before Newcastle’s Premier League fate is confirmed and “considerably more” if he can ensure survival first.

Newcastle came back from 2-0 down against Tottenham on Sunday to earn a draw which lifts them three points clear of the relegation zone with a game in hand.
