Coutinho and Barcelona teammate tipped to be Newcastle's 'saviours' after 'incredible' news - Kenny
Philippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele could be the “saviours” for Newcastle United in their relegation dogfight.
That is the view of ex-Premier League goalkeeper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the “superstar” Barcelona duo.
Newcastle are currently in 19th place in the Premier League standings and without a win in their opening 11 matches.
Dembele and Coutinho cost Barcelona close to a combined £280million when they signed in 2017 and 2018 respectively.
But the Daily Star reported on 9 November that Coutinho’s teammates believe he has downed tools to engineer a move to Tyneside.
The Brazilian attacking midfielder, 24, is under contract at the Nou Camp until 2023, while Dembele’s deal expires at the end of the season.

The Express reported on 9 November that Newcastle could land the French winger on a free transfer next summer.
But Kenny claims the 24-year-old, alongside Coutinho, could make the difference for Newcastle if signed in January.
He told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams: “They are going to have to get some players in or they could be going down.
“Coutinho hasn’t been unbelievable for Barcelona. But he could end up being Newcastle’s saviour if it comes to a relegation scrap.
“If they could get Dembele to come in January as well, then that would be incredible.
“Barcelona will be disappointed with how it’s gone with both players when you think about how much they have cost.
“They could both do with a fresh start and a move away. We know the talent they have got and they are both proper superstars.
“It’d be quite an adjustment from Barcelona to Newcastle though. They wouldn’t be walking about in shorts anymore.“
