Newcastle told to reject Everton offer and keep Saint-Maximin - Phillips
Steve Bruce is likely engaged in “talks” with Allan Saint-Maximin behind the scenes to convince him to stay at Newcastle United.
That is according to ex-Sunderland goalscorer Kevin Phillips, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the 24-year-old French winger.
The Mirror reported on 10th July that Everton will spring a £50million bid for Saint-Maximin if they lose Richarlison to Real Madrid this summer.
The former Nice winger penned a contract extension last October that commits him to St. James’ Park until 2026.
And Phillips urged Newcastle to do everything in their power to keep hold of the mercurial wide man.
He told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs: “From Steve Bruce’s point of view, you can’t let him go.

“At the end of the day, he’s one of their best players when he’s fit. Him and Almiron, when they’re on fire they can tear any defence apart.
“When you lose one of your best players it’s a big blow because it’s very difficult to replace them.
“So Steve will be fighting in the background. I’m sure he’s having talks with him, trying to keep the player from Everton’s clutches and to keep him happy.
“But he has signed a new deal so the Newcastle fans will be hoping that he’ll stay.“
Saint-Maximin, who scored three and assisted two in 25 league matches last season, signed for Newcastle from Nice in a £16.5m deal in 2019.
The Mirror report that Newcastle now value him at £60m.
