Newcastle tipped to have four new signings 'in the building' on 1 January as pundit 'wowed'
Gabby Agbonlahor has tipped Newcastle United to sign “three or four players” on January 1.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker admitted the club’s reported £50million January budget may have to be reevaluated.
The Telegraph reported the new Saudi owners of Newcastle will give the club £50million to improve the squad in January.
Under financial fair play, they would be allowed to spend £190million and Agbonlahor has suggested they may have to delve into that reserve.
He told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “If I’m the new owners, on January 1 I’ve got three or four players already in the building before the next Premier League game. That could happen.
“They need to stay in the league. It would be very laughable and funny to other teams if they got relegated after being bought.

“£50million? Wow, they’re going to have to quadruple that, I feel. £50million gets you nothing in this market.
“If they are going to get something, they need to score more goals. Callum Wilson will score goals, Allan Saint-Maximin will help.
“Maybe another winger and another centre-half.
“Even their centre-midfield is very weak, it’s a Championship midfield.
“They’re in big, big trouble, Newcastle. It’s more of a positive place there at the moment but if they don’t get some better players then it will turn into a negative place.
“If they want to buy a player with a £30milliom value, it’s going to cost them £50million because they’re worth £300billion. It can be a good thing and a bad thing.
“The player that’s coming, instead of £60,000-a-week, he’ll want £120,000-a-week because he knows how much you’ve got. It’s going to cost Newcastle.”
