Newcastle United are ready to offer £5million to Tottenham for Danny Rose this summer, Football Insider has learned.
The Londoners have made it clear they are ready to let the left-back leave now he has entered the final 12 months of his contract.
A Newcastle source has told Football Insider that the club are keen on signing Rose permanently regardless of who is the manager going into next season.
Talks have been held over a potentially permanent deal for the England international, who joined on loan in January.
Rose is keen to join Newcastle permanently after making a sound impression over the last six months.
He has had offers in the past two years from clubs overseas but would prefer to stay in England.
Newcastle are confident that Rose’s value has dropped significantly from last summer, when Watford had a £15million bid knocked back by Tottenham.
There is no place for him in the plans of Jose Mourinho and that opens the door for the north-east giants.
Manager Steve Bruce has spoken warmly of the impact made by the left-back, who turned 30 earlier this year.
He has played regularly since his arrival, starting seven of their last nine Premier League matches.
At Tottenham, Rose has made 214 appearances in total since joining from Leeds United in his mid-teens.
