Newcastle United told to accept £50m Allan Saint-Maximin bid after Tottenham update - pundit

Newcastle should sell Allan Saint-Maximin if a £50million offer comes in this summer.

That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Frenchman’s future.

On Saturday (4 June) Football.London reported Tottenham are weighing up a move for Saint-Maximin, 25.

According to the Daily Mail (2 April), the Magpies would listen to £50million offers for the winger when the transfer window re-opens this summer.

He was also forced to apologise to his teammates in early May after appearing to criticise them in an interview with Le Foot.

Kenny insists Newcastle must accept a £50million offer if one arrives this summer.

“I have said it before, if that £50million bid comes in then Newcastle should take it,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“£50million can get you a lot in this market and Saint-Maximin hasn’t been doing enough.

“He is great to watch but he only got five goals last season.

“Yes, the team around him is poor and maybe he will get better numbers once Newcastle improve that team.

“But, as I say, £50million is a lot for a player who has never fit double figures for goals or assists in one Premier League season.”

Saint-Maximin has scored five goals and registered five assists in 35 Premier League appearances during the 2021–22 season.

He has made 93 total appearances for the club.
