Newcastle United told to pull plug on £10.5m Paulo Dybala deal after talks held - Agbonlahor
Gabby Agbonlahor has insisted Newcastle “need a good number ten” but can “do better” than Roma star Paulo Dybala.
The former Aston Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the 29-year-old would not fit into the Magpies’ “high-energy” style.
According to 90min (1 May), Newcastle are one of the sides to be offered the chance to sign Dybala this summer – after receiving communication from the player’s representatives.
The report claims Arsenal, Aston Villa, Chelsea, Man United and Tottenham have also been contacted.
Dybala will be available to overseas clubs for just £10.5million this summer thanks to a release clause in his Roma contract.
He has notched 16 goals and eight assists in 35 games since joining Jose Mourinho in the Italian capital last summer (2022).

Agbonlahor told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “He’s a very good player.
“But when you look at the pace of the Premier League – does he have that hunger?
“Newcastle play with high energy, high pressing – and he’s not that kind of player.
“I’d be very careful with who I decide to sign if I’m Newcastle.
“They’ve been outstanding this season and they’re looking like they’ll get Champions League, but you still want hungry players.
“I wouldn’t get Dybala. They need a good number 10, but when you’ve got the money they have and you’re playing Champions League football – they’ve got the world to choose from.
“I wouldn’t go for someone who Juventus got rid of, and who doesn’t play all the time at Roma.
“Newcastle can do better.”
