Bazoumana Toure ready to explode at Newcastle after Ivory Coast latest
Bazoumana Toure's latest international exploits prove that he has the potential to become a key player at Newcastle in the coming months.
Toure has endured a slow start to life at Newcastle since his £42million move from Hoffenheim in the summer window.
The 20-year-old is yet to start a Premier League game for the Magpies but has scored two in four appearances across all competitions so far.
Matthias Jaissle will be looking for him to make a real impact after the international break, starting when Newcastle face Coventry on 12 October.
Toure's impressive showing for Ivory Coast in their latest AFCON qualifying win could fill him with the confidence needed to be a star for Newcastle in the coming weeks and months.
He clearly has bags of talent and potential that Jaissle needs to try and unlock after Newcastle spent such a hefty fee on Toure's services.
He has still largely remained unused by Jaissle, who has instead preferred Harvey Barnes from the off in most games.
The international break has provided Toure with the chance to regain some confidence before returning to Newcastle, and he looks to be in fine form as it stands.
He stepped off the bench to score for Ivory Coast against Somalia on Tuesday night, while also completing 12 of 14 attempted passes, creating one chance and taking four touches in the opposition box in 35 minutes on the pitch.
Toure also completed both of his attempted dribbles, won four ground duels and drew a foul in a fine showing for his country.
What has Jaissle said about Toure's struggles?
Jaissle has been praised at other clubs for bringing through younger players, and a similar pattern has emerged at Newcastle.
The likes of Lewis Miley, Sean Steur and Matias Fernandez-Pardo have formed a key part of his squad, but Toure is yet to feature regularly.
He was asked about his lack of game time prior to their loss to Leeds in mid-September, replying: "It is really clear with Baz, he is a young lad and you see the steps in training. He is really committed but Harvey Barnes has been performing at a high level and so sometimes you get less playing time.
“We said that from the beginning, especially for the young lads and the new signings that we give them time.”
