Bruno Guimaraes has said exactly what Newcastle United supporters are thinking after Lewis Miley's new setback at St James' Park.

The 20-year-old superstar had already missed a portion of the 2025-26 campaign due to injury, putting an end to his impressive spell in the right-back position.

With Tino Livramento also sidelined, Eddie Howe has been forced to play Kieran Trippier far too much for his liking, and even after his return, Miley has been featuring in the centre of midfield again.

However, Newcastle have confirmed Miley's new injury, one which rules him out for the Magpies' final three games of the campaign, and it is safe to say that it is not just the supporters left heartbroken.

Bruno Guimaraes 'very sad' after Newcastle United injury

Guimaraes has also faced his share of frustrating injury problems this season, so if anyone knows how Miley is feeling right now, the Brazilian superstar certainly does.

Taking to Instagram stories (5 May), Guimaraes wrote: "Very sad for you, my brother! Wish you a speedy recovery and you know that you can count on me. Love you, my guy," with a red love heart.

The 28-year-old missed 12 matches via a hamstring issue between February and April, and Howe's side have struggled for any sort of form without their playmaker in the centre of the pitch.

While the Magpies should be able to manage without Miley, his latest setback will come as a huge blow to those behind the scenes, as well as everyone at St James' Park, until he returns next.

What does the future hold for Lewis Miley?

Some fans might be concerned about Miley's injury problems this season, but given that his first issue was a stress fracture in his back, these issues are unlikely to continue into next term.

Now, the youngster has broken his fibula, keeping him out until the summer, but nobody behind the scenes at St James' Park should be worrying about his future.

Mick Brown told Football Insider in January that Newcastle would block any offers for Miley, and now it is understood that talks are being opened over a potential new contract in the north east.

Despite being contracted until the summer of 2029, Miley has clearly become an integral part of Howe's squad, and it would be foolish for him to be allowed to leave in the upcoming transfer window.
