Lewis Hall and Davide Bartesaghi compared as Newcastle brace for summer exit
Newcastle could be preparing for the departure of Lewis Hall amid mounting interest in the defender.
The Magpies, as per MilanPress in Italy, have identified AC Milan left-back Davide Bartesaghi as a potential replacement for Hall.
20-year-old Bartesaghi broke through into the AC Milan team this season, making 27 starts in Serie A.
Meanwhile, Hall has attracted plenty of interest from fellow Premier League clubs, including Man United and Chelsea, for his performances on Tyneside.
Hall may not be the only star to depart St James' Park, and manager Eddie Howe has been looking to sign young talent this summer.
Newcastle have already confirmed the signing of 20-year-old goalkeeper Ewen Jaouen, and the Magpies are in talks to sign 22-year-old winger Victor Munoz.
How do Lewis Hall and Davide Bartesaghi compare?
The stats prove that Hall would be a miss to Newcastle if he was to depart, but Bartesaghi could prove to be a smart replacement.
A year younger than Hall, Bartesaghi can also play at centre-back and left wing-back.
The pair played a similar amount of minutes in the Premier League and Serie A this season, but it was Hall who came out in most key areas.
Hall made more successful tackles, blocks, clearances, and interceptions than Bartesaghi, and he won possession more times in the final third per 90 minutes.
In possession, Hall also made more accurate passes and successfully completed more dribbles per 90 minutes than the AC Milan player.
In attack though Bartesaghi did create more chances, 44 to Hall's 25, and had a higher shot accuracy of 47 per cent to 43 per cent.
Replacing Hall will be a difficult prospect for Howe, but former chief scout at Old Trafford Mick Brown told Football Insider that Man United will only sign the left-back if his £80million price tag is reduced.
Lewis Hall could accelerate exit after latest England news
Hall's valuation could have soared further had he been selected for England's World Cup squad.
Even after Tino Livramento left the England camp with an injury, Hall has not been called up by Thomas Tuchel.
That could prompt Hall to explore a move away in a bid to bolster his chances of breaking through into Tuchels' plans in the future.
Newcastle are braced for offers, and it would be tough to reject any advances if their valuation of Hall was met.
