Newcastle United have demanded that Joe Willock is sold after footage emerged on social media of him falling out with club captain Bruno Guimaraes during their win against West Ham.

Eddie Howe's side clinched a much-needed 3-1 victory against the relegation-threatened Hammers at St James' Park on Sunday evening.

Willock featured off the bench in place of the injured Sandro Tonali alongside Guimaraes for the majority of the second half.

One eagle-eyed supporter spotted the former Arsenal man arguing with the Magpies captain after he took umbrage with how Willock wasted a chance in added time.

The footage was duly uploaded on social media, leaving many fans with a sour taste in their mouth despite Newcastle's second successive home win as they look to end the season on a high.

Newcastle fans want Joe Willock sold after Bruno Guimaraes argument - 'Get rid of him ASAP'

Willock has been linked with a move away from Newcastle over the last few months amid his struggles to nail down a place in Howe's starting eleven.

The 26-year-old registered his third assist of the campaign against West Ham as he set Will Osula up for his brace in the 65th minute.

Many Magpies supporters felt his decent cameo was overshadowed by the bust-up with Guimaraes, as a pile-on ensued on X after the clip of the argument was posted.

One fan wrote: "Willock can’t lace Bruno’s boots. He plays one good game in twenty. Exit door is calling."

While another supporter added: "Willock was already on the way out, but having a go at the most beloved player the club has means he’s going to be roundhouse kicked out the door."

And one fan said: "You'd have thought that all the teammates would respect our club captain and best player, someone who made Willock's job much easier every game over the years."

Which team could Willock join if he leaves Newcastle this summer?

Willock has been slammed by Newcastle fans for his performances this season, and he celebrated his goal against PSG in January with a shushing celebration in a possible nod to the silencing of his critics.

Howe insisted after that game that he had shown “the Joe Willock of old”, but the last few months have seen him stuck on the sidelines with just nine league starts handed to him all season.

Football Insider previously revealed that Leeds were eyeing a move for Willock, with Newcastle open to selling him for the right price in the January window.

Crystal Palace have also been linked with a move for the 26-year-old, and a return to the capital could well appeal if they continue to keep tabs on his availability ahead of the summer.

The Times reported last week that Newcastle are prepared to move Willock on ahead of next season, and so the fans who are fuming with him may well get their wish if he is forced out.
