Newcastle United supporters have come to a crossroads with Yoane Wissa after the striker's cameo against Manchester City in the FA Cup.

Eddie Howe's side took the lead on Saturday, 7 March, with Harvey Barnes getting St James' Park bouncing after 18 minutes, before the Citizens put on a masterclass in the North East.

Savinho hit back ahead of the half-time break, with Omar Marmoush then putting two past Aaron Ramsdale in the second 45 minutes, sealing a 3-1 win and a spot in the quarter-finals.

Newcastle's attention will now turn to Barcelona in the Champions League, but fans are unlikely to want to see Wissa lead the line when the La Liga giants come to visit on Tuesday, 10 March.

Yoane Wissa disappoints as Newcastle United substitute

The former Brentford star replaced William Osula for the final 30 minutes, with hope fading of the Magpies reaching the next round of the FA Cup against Pep Guardiola's men.

It is safe to say that the home supporters were deeply unimpressed by the centre-forward's performance, claiming that "he's not fit to wear out shirt" after yet another goalless cameo.

Wissa has now failed to score or assist in his last eight appearances for the Magpies, and with Nick Woltemade also struggling in front of goal, fans are getting frustrated.

  • @HowayMagsTV: "Missa ..... I mean Wissa does not deserve that Number 9 shirt !! and doesnt deserve to be playing for us!!"
  • @nufcrichys: "If Wissa plays another minute for Newcastle, it’ll be a minute too many I’ve seen some **** players watching Newcastle, but for application and attitude he’s the absolute worst. A waste of a shirt."
  • @toonarmy30x: "I’d be ashamed if I was Wissa taking the number 9 shirt."

Eddie Howe must be concerned by Wissa's full stats

In his 30 minutes on the pitch, the 29-year-old had just four touches, completing two passes, losing three total duels and committing two fouls, one of which saw him cautioned by the referee [FotMob].

He also lost possession once [Sofascore], adding yet more frustration to his poor performance, leading to supporters begging for a change up front ahead of the summer transfer window.

Howe has spoken very openly about Newcastle's struggles in the transfer market, but given his team's awful purchases, including £55million for Wissa, he only has himself to blame.

Mick Brown told Football Insider that Howe is trying to replace Wissa already, and that will be music to the supporters' ear after his latest performance at St James' Park.
