Newcastle fans fume at Joe Willock latest - 'We are not a serious club'
Newcastle supporters have slammed the club's board after reports of their £25million valuation of Joe Willock's services emerged.
Eddie Howe is being forced to shape his squad this summer as several key players move on from St James' Park.
Bruno Guimaraes could follow Sandro Tonali and Anthony Gordon out of the club before the end of the window, with numerous signings made to bolster Howe's ranks.
Willock is another midfielder who could leave soon, having struggled for minutes throughout last season.
He was closely linked with an exit in January, and Turkish giants Besiktas have reportedly seen a £10m offer for his services rejected by the Magpies in the last few days.
Newcastle are believed to be demanding around £25m for the 26-year-old, which has angered some fans who think the valuation is way too ambitious.
Newcastle supporters slam board as 'laughable' Joe Willock price tag emerges
Willock is one of the longest-serving Newcastle players as it stands, having initially joined the club on loan from Arsenal in February 2021.
Injury issues have restricted his minutes at times over the years, but he made 39 appearances across all competitions last season and remained a key part of Howe's plans.
Willock only managed to make 10 Premier League starts, though, and Besiktas are looking to snap him up this summer after seeing their first offer knocked back.
Journalist Lee Ryder has reported that their £10m bid was not close to Newcastle's £25m price tag, which has prompted some annoyed responses from supporters online.
One took to X to say: "Wanting £25million for Joe Willock is actually laughable. He surely now is our sixth-choice CM, has one year left on his contract, is injury-prone and hasn't exactly played well in the last couple of years. Get any money you can"
While another wrote: "We want £25m for him? Hahahahaha, we are not a serious club. Just move him on, he's not worth half that."
And one fan added: "Joe Willock is not worth £25million pence, never mind pounds."
Which other clubs have been linked to Joe Willock?
Willock has less than a year left on his Newcastle contract and talks over a new deal are yet to begin, so an exit does still seem likely this summer.
Sources have revealed to Football Insider that Willock is expecting to leave Newcastle before the window closes, but they will likely have to lower their demands for sale to go through.
Besiktas have made a formal move, but Leeds were also keen on his signature in the January window and could reignite their interest this summer.
Nottingham Forest, Fulham and Crystal Palace were also believed to be interested in the ex-England youth star, so he is not set to be short of suitors in the coming weeks.
