Newcastle United may have found a solution to replace Anthony Gordon in the ongoing transfer window.

Barcelona have completed a big-money move for the 25-year-old forward and had a lot of eyes on him after starting for England against Croatia at Dallas Stadium on 17 June.

The Magpies had their eyes on Osasuna's left-winger Victor Munoz, but it looks like Liverpool are about to hijack another deal from them

Gordon didn't do much in England's World Cup opener and was replaced by Marcus Rashford in the 4-2 win over Croatia, with the Manchester United ace scoring and possibly offering Newcastle a solution to their attacking problems.

The 28-year-old's future is up in the air right now after Barcelona opted against triggering the buy option in his loan deal, allowing the St James' Park hierarchy to go after his signature.

Rashford's immediate impact off the bench for the Three Lions highlights that he can be a reliable option for Eddie Howe off the left if the Tyneside outfit opt to sign him in the coming weeks.

Newcastle United will kill two birds with one stone after Marcus Rashford transfer

Rashford's stock has risen a bit since last year after a decent season with Barcelona, scoring 14 goals and providing 14 assists in all competitions.

The Magpies are certainly well-aware of the Englishman's qualities after his brace at St James' Park in the Champions League, including a stunning strike from distance.

Not only can the Man United star come inside off the left for the Tyneside outfit, but he has also shown during his Premier League career that he's capable of playing as a number nine.

Howe struggled for a reliable goalscorer in the 2025-26 campaign, alternating between Nick Woltemade, William Osula and Yoane Wissa up front, and Rashford could potentially be a versatile solution for the St James' Park hierarchy to improve their attack.

Marcus Rashford signing may trigger St James' Park exit

Football Insider transfer correspondent Pete O'Rourke shared on 14 June that Newcastle have no plans of selling Harvey Barnes amid interest from the likes of Aston Villa.

While the Magpies want to keep the former Leicester City star, he may have questions regarding his future in NE1 if Rashford arrives this summer.

Barnes started in 19 of his 37 Premier League appearances this season and uncertainty over his role will surely continue if the Tyneside outfit bolster their attack with the Man United star.
