Newcastle plot Felix Nmecha move as Borussia Dortmund stance revealed
Newcastle are interested in signing Felix Nmecha but Borussia Dortmund will take some persuading to sell him this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
Nmecha recently impressed at the World Cup with Germany despite their early round of 32 exit against Paraguay.
He drew particular praise for his performances in the group stage as they progressed through Group E as winners.
Nmecha has been closely linked with a move to Man United following those strong showings and some impressive form for Dortmund last season.
Newcastle have joined the race to sign the 25-year-old, as I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, but the German giants do not want to let him leave.
Eddie Howe is searching for a Sandro Tonali replacement after he joined Spurs, while Bruno Guimaraes has reportedly asked to leave the club too.
Felix Nmecha is on Newcastle's radar after World Cup exploits
Nmecha was a regular for Dortmund last season as he registered six goals and three assists in 47 games from central midfield.
Sources have told Football Insider that Dortmund want around £100million for Nmecha, which is likely to price Newcastle out of a move.
Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "Nmecha is one of the players that they (Newcastle) have looked at. He had a decent World Cup with Germany, and was one of the better players in an underperforming German side, in all honesty.
"But look, it's not an easy deal to do. Dortmund do not want to lose Nmecha. They've got him under a long-term contract. He signed a new deal not that long ago as well, before the end of last season."
Newcastle tipped to make Joao Palhinha move after Spurs decision
Palhinha impressed on loan at Tottenham last season, as he came up with some vital goals to help keep them in the Premier League.
Roberto De Zerbi has decided against signing him permanently this summer, with Tonali and Mateus Fernandes signed to bolster his midfield instead.
Sources have now revealed to Football Insider that Newcastle could move for Palhinha in the coming weeks as they eye midfield alternatives.
The 31-year-old is seeking a transfer as he has no future at Bayern Munich, with the Magpies a possible next destination after they shortlisted him as a target.
