Newcastle should accelerate Felix Nmecha move as his full stats vs Arsenal emerge

Newcastle United target Felix Nmecha put his talents on show against Premier League champions Arsenal on Sunday as Borussia Dortmund beat them 3-2 in North London.

The 25-year-old claimed a superb assist for Samuele Inacio's goal to open the scoring at the Emirates Stadium, with Konstantinos Karetsas and Joane Gadou also finding the net for the visitors.

Ethan Nwaneri and Viktor Gyokeres scored for Arsenal, who had welcomed Bruno Guimaraes with a pre-match walk out following confirmation of his £75million move last week.

Newcastle are hoping to replace their club captain in the coming days, with Nmecha among the candidates to make the switch to St James' Park.

Dortmund are reportedly demanding a fee in the region of £80m for the German, who impressed at the World Cup.

Newcastle have also been linked with both Joao Palhinha and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in recent days, with a move set to take place imminently.

Felix Nmecha impresses in stats vs Arsenal

Nmecha's career began at Manchester City, where he spent around 14 years before leaving in 2021.

The midfielder never actually made an appearance for the Citizens, but it was clear he had talent when he broke through at Wolfsburg.

A strong Bundesliga campaign in the 2022-23 season convinced Dortmund to sign him in the summer of 2023, and he has continued to impress.

Last season has earned Nmecha recognition across Europe, with the World Cup putting him on several major radars.

His display against Arsenal on Sunday will have done nothing to quell that interest, either.

The 25-year-old's superb assist was the cherry on top of a superb performance that also saw him hit a shot just over and complete four passes into the final third.

Nmecha's defensive duties were most impressive, however, with the Newcastle target winning three free-kicks, four of his five duels, a tackle and two recoveries.

What Julian Nagelsmann said about Nmecha will excite

Nmecha's displays were one of very few positives at the World Cup for Germany.

Julian Nagelsmann has since been sacked and replaced by Jurgen Klopp after his side were knocked out at the round of 32 stage by Paraguay.

Before the tournament began, however, the former Bayern Munich manager reportedly sat down with Nmecha and his assistant coaches.

There, the midfielder was told that if he is to stay fit, he will be the best player in the world in his position.
