Newcastle should be paying close attention as Andre's stats emerge from Wolves win
The 25-year-old scored the second of a three-goal destruction of the League Two side in the first half, which also saw Adam Armstrong and Fer Lopez find the net.
It was the Brazilian that stole much of the show, however, with Wolves hoping to survive the remainder of the transfer window without the threat of interest in him.
Andre signed a new contract at Molineux Stadium this summer despite relegation, but would likely find it hard to say no if a club of the size of Newcastle United were to make their interest known.
The Magpies are looking to sign more midfielders in the coming weeks, having been gutted this summer.
Sandro Tonali and club captain Bruno Guimaraes have left already, with Joelinton and Joe Willock potentially set to follow them.
Andre's impressive stats vs Port Vale
Andre's previous contract had been set to expire in 2029, but the new terms will take him to 2030 with the option for an additional year.
That does not mean that he is untouchable at Wolves. Should a sizable bid arrive, it would be difficult for decision-makers to turn down.
If Friday night's display was anything to go by, Newcastle should be preparing the money as we speak.
Andre's goal was a simple one, the Brazilian only needing to nod the ball in after it had been headed across goal.
It was the rest of his performance that stood out. The 25-year-old completed an impressive eight long balls, and misplaced just four of his passes.
And defensively, he was superb. Andre made four tackles, one block, two clearances, four recoveries and won five duels on the night.
Rob Edwards exit may have changed things for Andre
Andre shared a deep bond with previous manager Rob Edwards, who was unexpectedly replaced by Cesar Peixoto in June.
"He gives me a lot of confidence, so I am very grateful to him for everything he has done for me since he arrived, and I really hope to help on the pitch," the midfielder said about his former manager in May.
"I really want to help him. He’s a sensational guy who deserves to take the club back to the Premier League."
With Edwards no longer at the club, it remains to be seen how loyal Andre would continue to be if a bid did arrive in the coming days.
