Newcastle's forgotten starlet on track to being a regular with latest masterclass
Antonio Cordero has shown that he has a bright future at Newcastle with his latest star turn on loan at Cadiz.
Cordero was allowed out on loan again ahead of this season as he re-joined second-tier Spanish side Cadiz in July.
The 19-year-old scored three goals in 21 appearances for the Andalusian side last season after spending the first half of the campaign at Belgian club Westerlo.
He has been tipped for stardom on Tyneside since joining from Malaga in 2025, but is yet to truly prove his quality at a respectable level.
Cordero's latest performance for Cadiz could spark his season into life as he looks to prove his quality to Magpies boss Matthias Jaissle.
The 19-year-old has shown that he has the potential to solve Newcastle's winger issues long-term, but must continue to impress for the rest of the campaign.
Antonio Cordero produces stunning display in Cadiz win
Cordero struggled to make a consistent impact in La Liga 2 last season, but ultimately helped Cadiz avoid relegation by just three points.
He has already matched his goal tally for last season in this campaign following a brace in their 4-0 win over Leganes over the weekend.
Cordero opened the scoring in the sixth minute as he found space on the left side of the box and netted at the near post, with his 71st-minute strike coming as he made a late run into the box and smartly finished with a first-time effort.
It was a masterclass of a performance across the pitch, as he also created the joint-most chances (3), had the most touches in the opposition box (9) and took the most shots (8) of any player on the pitch.
He also completed his one attempted dribble, made the most ball recoveries (7) of any outfield player and won six of eight attempted ground duels.
It was a fantastic showing by the 19-year-old, and he certainly looks to be heading the right way to becoming a key man under Jaissle in the years to come if he can continue to shine in Spain this season.
How are Newcastle's other academy loanees getting on?
Fellow Newcastle youngster Leo Shahar is yet to feature for Portuguese top-flight side Arouca since joining on loan at the start of last month.
Alex Murphy has made four appearances and registered one assist at German second-tier club Kaiserslautern in a decent spell so far.
Summer signing Ousmane Diabate is impressing out in Turkey, with one goal and assist each in six appearances on his return to Genclerbirgili, after leaving the Super Lig side for Newcastle last month.
19-year-old winger Sean Neave is yet to make a real impression at Wolves as they chase Championship promotion, with three appearances and one start up to now.
