Nick Woltemade reacts to emotional Bruno Guimaraes message amid Newcastle exit talk
Nick Woltemade has sent a message to Newcastle teammate Bruno Guimaraes on social media in response to his emotional statement.
Guimaraes was part of the Brazil squad that suffered an early World Cup exit in the round of 16 against Norway last week.
He missed a first-half penalty for his country as Man City star Erling Haaland went on to notch a second-half brace.
The 28-year-old will now return to Newcastle with his future looking uncertain as several top clubs line up a move for his services.
He took to Instagram on Tuesday night to send an emotional message and apology to the Brazil supporters following their disappointing campaign.
Magpies teammate Woltemade encouraged his captain with a message in response that read: "The best!!"
The Germany striker has also been dumped out of the tournament in the last week and may also leave the club this summer.
The latest on Bruno Guimaraes to Arsenal
Guimaraes has continued to shine for Newcastle over the last 12 months despite their disappointing 2025-26 campaign.
He registered nine goals and five assists in 29 Premier League games last season, with Arsenal linked in January and now believed to be keen on his services once more.
Newcastle rejected a reported £55million bid from the Gunners for his signature earlier in the summer window.
He remains under contract until 2028, but sources have revealed to Football Insider that Newcastle want to tie Guimaraes down to a new deal this summer to ward off increased interest.
His future has still been plunged into even more uncertainty after Newcastle agreed a deal to sign Ajax midfielder Sean Steur earlier this week.
What is the latest on Woltemade's future?
Reports have claimed that Woltemade has been frustrated with his standing in Howe's squad over the last six months.
He was moved back to attacking midfield after struggling to score regularly, but the 24-year-old has made it clear that he is keen to fight for his place on Tyneside next season.
Speaking to German reporters at the World Cup last month, he said: "I’m an ambitious person and always want to reach my full potential. That’s easiest to do in attack. At Newcastle, I filled in at other positions, even as a defensive midfielder.
"No (regrets). I moved to the Premier League, the best league in the world, when I was 23. I’ve learned a lot this season. I’ve improved athletically, I can keep up with the tremendous pace, and I can hold my own in challenges.
"Overall, it’s been a step forward. That’s why I have no doubts about Newcastle. I’ll make my mark there."
