Nick Woltemade is aiming to return to form at the World Cup with Germany this summer after a tough season at Newcastle.

Woltemade enjoyed a strong start to life at St James' Park at the start of 2025-26 following a £65million move from Stuttgart.

He bagged five goals in his first eight appearances for the Magpies, but then managed to score just six more in his next 43 games before the end of the campaign.

Woltemade made his Germany debut against Portugal last June and scored his maiden goal for his country against Northern Ireland in October.

The 24-year-old will partake in his first international tournament in the coming weeks, and could fire Julian Nagelsmann's side to glory in North America as the top scorer.

He has bagged four times in 11 Germany appearances so far, but may be starting on the bench at the World Cup behind Kai Havertz.

Football Insider have looked at his odds to win the Golden Boot compared to other top Premier League stars taking part for their respective countries.

What are Nick Woltemade's odds to win the World Cup Golden Boot?

Woltemade has been a regular starter for Germany since his debut last year, but has been on the bench from the off for their last two pre-World Cup friendlies.

His chances of being trusted up front by DFB boss Nagelsmann have clearly been affected by Eddie Howe switching the 24-year-old to attacking midfield in the second half of last term.

He is currently priced at 66/1 to be the 2026 World Cup Golden Boot winner with several leading UK bookmakers.

Woltemade is also 100/1 to win FIFA's Golden Ball award for the best player and 200/1 to get the most assists at the tournament.

Who are the leading PL candidates to win the Golden Boot?

Woltemade is keen to leave Newcastle, as revealed by Football Insider's sources, and they will hope he impresses at the tournament to possibly raise his price-tag this summer.

He is not necessarily fancied by the bookies, with one top betting agency listing Man City's Erling Haaland as the Premier League's top Golden Boot candidate for this summer, at odds of 14/1.

Fellow Germany star Kai Havertz is next up, at 35/1, while Brentford and Brazil striker Igor Thiago comes in at 40/1.

Florian Wirtz (50/1), Bukayo Saka (55/1) and Bruno Fernandes (60/1) are all more likely to win the award than Woltemade with one of the leading UK bookmakers.
