Sources: 24-yr-old has 'no long-term future' at Newcastle
Newcastle United are aiming to drive up Nick Woltemade's transfer fee during his loan spell, sources have told Football Insider.
The 24-year-old joined Juventus on loan in the closing stages of the transfer window as he did not have a significant part to play in Matthias Jaissle's plans.
Since making the move to Turin, the Germany international has scored one goal in three appearances, during the 5-0 Europa League win against Dutch outfit N.E.C.
As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, Newcastle hope Woltemade will perform at a high level as they aim to boost his asking price.
The striker's loan deal with Juventus includes no option to buy, leaving the door open for the Magpies to negotiate his price when they look to move him on permanently next year.
Whether Woltemade completes a permanent move to Juventus or elsewhere in Europe, Newcastle are now hoping to maximise they fee they receive for his services.
Will Newcastle look to cash in on Nick Woltemade?
Football Insider revealed on 18 September that Newcastle are preparing to accept permanent offers for Woltemade next summer when he returns from his spell at Juventus.
The Germany international was allowed to move on as Newcastle completed the signing of Matias Fernandez-Pardo, who has enjoyed a strong start at St James' Park.
Given the club's willingness to see Woltemade move on, they are hopeful he will improve his reputation and price tag while out on loan after a strong start.
Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "Newcastle will be open to letting Woltemade leave permanently, for sure.
"Obviously, Newcastle will be hoping that Nick Woltemade can recapture his best form at Juventus and maybe increase his price tag.
"If he performs well, then they can maximise his value and he can put himself in the shop window in that respect for any clubs who might be interested in signing him.
"Bayern Munich are long-term admirers of Woltemade, so if he can recapture his best form, then they might be tempted to reignite that interest in him.
"But it does seem that he doesn't have a long-term future at Newcastle, that is for sure."
Which clubs are interested in signing Woltemade?
Newcastle's plans to cash in on Woltemade at the end of the season will largely depend on the level of interest in his signature, and how he performs for Juventus.
If the striker can continue his strong start to life in Turin, he may be tempted to make his loan move permanent next summer, but Juventus are not his only suitors.
Football Insider revealed on 20 September that Bayern Munich are plotting a move to sign Woltemade and are keeping a close eye on his performances.
The Bundesliga champions have been long-term admirers of the striker and were surprised when they missed out on a deal as he opted to join Newcastle last summer.
However, one year on, they are continuing to keep tabs on Woltemade's situation and could move to test the Magpies' resolve when he returns from his season-long loan spell.
