Sources: Dan Burn's chances of agreeing Newcastle extension revealed
Burn is yet to feature in a competitive game under Jaissle after suffering an ankle injury on the eve of the new campaign last month.
Newcastle sorely missed his leadership at the back as they suffered a 4-1 defeat at Leeds on Monday evening.
He is expected to be back fit after the upcoming international break, with uncertainty looming over his future at the club as it stands.
Burn is out of contract in June next year, and as I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, he will only be offered a new deal if he impresses under Jaissle on a regular basis this season.
The 34-year-old will be looking to start ahead of either Sven Botman or Malick Thiaw when Newcastle face Coventry on 12 October.

Jaissle's willingness to offer Burn regular game time will be the main factor in the club's decision to hand him a new deal.
He will also need to impress under the German, with Newcastle looking way too open at the back in his absence on Monday night.
Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "Right now he's injured, but I'm sure he still plays a huge role off the pitch as well. I'm sure they'll want to keep his experience in the team. Once he is back fit, he will be pushing for a place in Matthias Jaissle's team.
"He's a versatile player too. Obviously he's a centre-back, but he can play at left-back as well, as he has done on occasion for Newcastle. He does have a lot to offer. Newcastle will judge it on its merits, on how he performs and what he can bring to the team."

Newcastle could have no excuses for their loss at Elland Road, but will feel aggrieved that they weren't given an easier route back into the game in the second half.
The Leeds striker was booked by Michael Salisbury on the stroke of half-time for elbowing Botman as he looked to jump for a header.
