Newcastle are increasingly likely to keep hold of Bruno Guimaraes this summer, according to bookmakers.

The 28-year-old midfielder has reportedly requested to depart St James’ Park amid interest from Arsenal.

However, Newcastle have insisted that they are yet to receive a direct offer from the Gunners for their captain.

Now, one UK bookmaker believes that Guimaraes could stay at St James’ Park and slashed the odds of the club keeping hold of their star man down to 7/4.

The midfielder was one of the club’s best players last season and finished as their top scorer in the Premier League with nine goals.

Newcastle have already lost several key players this summer, including Sandro Tonali and Anthony Gordon.

Can Newcastle realistically keep hold of Bruno Guimaraes?

For Newcastle fans, this summer will feel like deja vu.

Like last year when Alexander Isak was the subject to a long transfer saga with Premier League champions Liverpool, this looks set to repeat itself with Guimaraes and Arsenal.

Unfortunately for the Magpies, the saga surrounding their captain has no sign of ending anytime soon.

Therefore, it is hard to predict if they are able to keep hold of their star man between now and the end of the transfer window.

However, given that Guimaraes has a long contract, which can run until 2030, and the fact that the club does not need to sell as it stands, does put Newcastle in a strong position.

Where could Guimaraes be playing his football next season?

As it stands, the bookies believe that Arsenal is still the most likely destination for Guimaraes for the 2026-27 campaign.

The Gunners have 1/2 odds to complete the transfer before the end of the ongoing summer transfer window.

Following this, both Manchester United and Real Madrid are considered outsiders to complete the signing at 20/1.

Liverpool completing the deal is also seen as a potential long shot at 33/1, as Andoni Iraola looks to challenge for the Premier League title with his new club this season.

However, it remains to be seen where Guimaraes will be playing his football in the 2026-27 campaign, with plenty of twists and turns expected over the coming months.
