Joelinton ‘presented’ as Newcastle exodus continues – report

Joelinton could be the next player out the door at Newcastle United after the midfielder was offered to a recruitment committee.

Reports have emerged that the 29-year-old midfielder has been presented to several sides in Saudi Arabia this summer.

Al-Hilal and Al-Nassr are not interested in signing the Brazil international, and there is yet to be a response from Al-Ahli, Al-Ittihad, and Al-Qadsiah.

If one club does make a move and signs Joelinton, he would be yet another high-profile exit at St James’ Park this summer.

The Magpies have already sold Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali, while Bruno Guimaraes is heavily linked with a move to Arsenal.

Joelinton was an important player at Newcastle last season, and made 27 appearances in the Premier League, where he scored twice.

Newcastle United set for midfield overhaul

As the weeks go on, it looks increasingly likely that Newcastle are set for a completely new midfield this season.

The club are yet to replace Tonali, and it is believed that any midfielder that is sold will be replaced by the club.

However, after journalist Khalid Al-Zahrani reported on Joelinton’s potential sale, it seems that a midfielder revamp is inevitable this summer.

Even if the Magpies keep hold of Guimaraes, he would surely have two teammates next to him in the centre.

However, it remains to be seen what business Newcastle will conduct in the remaining weeks of the transfer window.

Should Newcastle sell Joelinton this summer?

Despite Joelinton’s importance to Newcastle last season, many of his stats were mixed.

According to Fotmob on 22 July, the midfielder averaged 0.09 goals, a 0.11 xG, 1.47 shots, 0.05 assists, an 82.7 per cent passing completion rate, 0.78 chances created, 1.98 tackles and 0.14 blocked shots.

Therefore, while he proved to be solid in front of goal, creatively he was inconsistent and would often lose the ball.

As a result, a sale may be wise for Newcastle if they can bring in a substantial fee for the 29-year-old.

This could allow the club to sign a decent upgrade on Joelinton, and potentially bring in a younger talent.

Equally, if the Brazil international can return to form, he could prove to be a good asset for Eddie Howe next season.
