Newcastle United are lining up a move for teenage winger Zadok Yohanna this summer amid a shift on the wings at St James’ Park.

Anthony Gordon has already left the club, joining Barcelona last month in a deal worth around £69million.

Yohanna’s potential arrival appears to be a move related to another possible exit at Newcastle, however.

Anthony Elanga has endured an extremely difficult first season since making the £55m switch from Nottingham Forest, and has been linked with a return.

Newcastle transfer chiefs are ready to refresh Eddie Howe’s squad this summer, and several significant exits could pave the way.

Anthony Elanga exit could be on amid Zadok Yohanna interest

There have been hints linking Elanga with a return to Nottingham Forest shared on social media in recent weeks.

The winger scored just three goals in 49 games across all competitions in his debut season at St James’ Park, with two of those coming in the same game.

The 24-year-old had arrived as one of the brightest sparks in the Premier League, scoring six goals and providing 11 assists in the competition last season.

But whether it is Howe’s system or Elanga’s confidence, the move has not worked out, and Newcastle may well be looking for a quick exit route.

Negotiations for Yohanna, a right-sided winger, would suggest that there is confidence of finding it.

The 18-year-old is also the subject of interest from the likes of Chelsea and Brighton, with the Magpies reportedly submitting an offer worth around £21m.

Newcastle are expected to add another left-winger following the departure of Gordon, but the potential arrival of Yohanna suggests another exit could be incoming.

Who is Yohanna and why are Newcastle interested?

Yohanna joined Swedish club AIK last summer, joining from Nigerian side Ikon Allah FA, for a reported fee of £650k.

After initially struggling for minutes last season, the winger has exploded into life this year.

With five goals and three assists in 12 games across all competitions this season, the 18-year-old has emerged as one of the most exciting talents in Europe.

Newcastle will be completing a coup if they can sign him, with memories of the similarly exciting Yankuba Minteh fresh in the memory.
