Newcastle fans say the same thing about Jacob Murphy joining Everton
Newcastle United fans are keen to see the back of long-term servant Jacob Murphy as they hope Everton completes the signing of the winger.
Reports emerged on Saturday that confirmed that the Toffees are keen on signing the 31-year-old this summer.
There is yet to be an official offer, but Everton are considering an official move.
Many Newcastle fans are incredibly keen to see the back of Murphy, who has 12 months left on his contract.
The winger has been at St James’ Park for nine years, and has struggled to find consistent form in this time.
This summer could be their last chance to rid themselves of the attacker, and many Newcastle fans are hopeful a deal can be completed.
Newcastle fans want Jacob Murphy gone
Despite staying at Newcastle for a prolonged period, Murphy has rarely set the world alight.
Last season, he only managed five Premier League goal contributions in 33 matches in what was a frustrating season all around for the squad.
Now, after the Magpies confirmed the addition of Bazou Toure, Keith Downie has reported of Everton’s interest in Murphy.
Newcastle fans were quick to react to this news, and demanded that a deal is struck with the Toffees.
Some took to X and even suggested that they’d drive the winger down to Merseyside themselves if they had to.
How bad was Murphy last season?
Unfortunately for Murphy, his stats from last season don’t do a lot to back him up.
According to Fotmob on 11 July, per 90 minutes, he was averaging 0.17 goals, a 0.18 xG, 2.34 shots, 0.11 assists, a 0.15 xA, 1.28 chances created and 1.11 successful dribbles in the Premier League.
Therefore, it is pretty clear that his attacking output has dried up, and he is no longer the threat he once was.
As a result, it is no surprise that Eddie Howe may be willing to sanction a sale this transfer window as he looks to revamp his squad after their recent poor campaign.
Nevertheless, if Everton are to complete a deal for Murphy, it remains to be seen if they are able to rekindle the winger’s form as David Moyes looks to push for Europe in the upcoming 2026-27 season.
