Newcastle fans taken aback by William Osula update – ‘We are doomed’
Newcastle United fans were shocked when it was revealed that William Osula would likely be the club’s main number striker for the start of the 2026-27 campaign.
After Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa failed to perform last season, the 22-year-old was often favoured by Eddie Howe in the final few matches.
This saw Osula hit a solid run of form, where he scored five goals in the final seven Premier League matches.
However, it had been expected by the fanbase that a new striker would be brought in ahead of the 2026-27 campaign to solve their problems once and for all up top.
Yet, reports have now emerged that the club are not pursuing another striker, and Osula is currently on track to be the Magpies’ main man up top.
This has infuriated the St James’ Park faithful, who are now concerned that the club will continue to decline.
Fans furious that William Osula is set to be Newcastle’s main striker
Newcastle’s front line last season was dreadful.
Overall, not a single player in the squad hit double-figure goals in the Premier League, with Woltemade hitting the most as an attacker at eight.
Therefore, many had hoped that a new striker would be walking through the doors in the coming weeks, especially now that the club has money to spend after the sales of Sandro Tonali and Anthony Gordon.
Yet, The Athletic have now reported that no out-and-out striker is being pursued by the club, and Osula is set to be the main striker for the new campaign.
As a result, fans are furious and were quick to take to X to state their concerns about the direction the club is going in.
Who else are Newcastle linked with this summer?
Newcastle United have reportedly joined the race to sign Parma midfielder Mandela Keita this summer.
£21million is said to be enough to acquire his services this summer, with Leeds, Everton and Aston Villa all previously linked to the star.
Talks have reportedly already begun between Newcastle and Parma for the 24-year-old.
However, it remains to be seen if the Magpies are able to win the race for the midfielder over the coming months as the transfer window heats up.
