Newcastle to 'move quickly' for Lamine Camara transfer amid Sandro Tonali latest
Newcastle United are ready to use the money from a potential exit for Sandro Tonali to sign Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara, sources have told Football Insider.
The Magpies are prepared to "move quickly" for their long-term target, to ensure that no other clubs can beat them to his signature.
They have been "keeping tabs" on the 22-year-old for several months, and an exit for Tonali will be the trigger for them to take their interest to the next level.
Monaco are aware of the "growing interest" in their starlet, and are prepared to let him leave if the right offer comes in this summer.
Newcastle have already decided that any money from a sale of Tonali will immediately be reinvested back into the squad.
Camara turned out 24 times for Monaco in Ligue 1 last season, and chipped in with three goals and four assists from the centre of midfield.
Lamine Camara in World Cup spotlight
Newcastle monitored Camara continually throughout the 2025-26 campaign, but now face the prospect of watching their target's reputation skyrocket this summer.
The youngster has travelled to the World Cup as part of Senegal's squad, and played 76 minutes in their opening 3-1 defeat to France.
He is also expected to play against Norway in the early hours of Tuesday morning, as the midfielder continues to showcase his ability to the world.
Newcastle are well aware that a strong World Cup could bring a whole host of new suitors to the table for Camara, and that is something that they are keen to avoid.
Eddie Howe and Co. are reluctant to lose Tonali in the coming weeks, but have already decided on a swift move for Camara if they cannot prevent his exit.
The midfield was already earmarked as an area of priority for the recruitment team this summer, and their need for reinforcements will grow if Tonali leaves.
Tottenham preparing 'improved' Sandro Tonali offer
Football Insider revealed on Monday that Tottenham are preparing an "improved" offer for Tonali after their opened bid of £80million was rejected.
The Lilywhites have identified the Italian as their top target for the summer window, and are currently in the "box seat" to secure his services.
Newcastle are holding out for a fee of £100m in order to sanction an exit, and Spurs are already about to take a step closer to that figure.
They are determined to make the 26-year-old part of their rebuild for next term, in what looks set to be an extremely lucrative deal.
