Who is Bazoumana Toure? Everything Newcastle fans need to know as transfer finalised
Newcastle are set to sign Bazoumana Toure after agreeing a deal for his services worth £42million with Hoffenheim.
Eddie Howe has been looking to bolster his forward line following Anthony Gordon's big-money move to Barcelona.
The England winger was a regular starter for the Magpies, with several targets on their radar as potential replacements in Howe's first eleven.
Widespread reports have claimed that Newcastle have agreed a deal to sign Hoffenheim starlet Toure, who has recently been at the World Cup with Ivory Coast.
Toure enjoyed a breakout 2025-26 campaign in the Bundesliga after a move from Hammarby in February last year.
He is not too well known on these shores as yet, so Football Insider have looked at everything that Newcastle fans need to know about his career so far.
What do Newcastle fans need to know about Bazoumana Toure?
Toure was born in Bouake, the second-largest city in Ivory Coast, and began his football career in the academy of ASEC Mimosas.
He was promoted to their first team in 2022, and played in the CAF Champions League at just 17-years-old before joining Hammarby in 2024.
The left-footed winger, who is most comfortable on the left flank, registered eight goals and three assists in 23 appearances in his sole Allsvenskan season.
He joined Hoffenheim in a £13.7m deal in February 2025, and has made 45 appearances for the Bundesliga club up to now, scoring five goals and notching 12 assists.
Toure can also feature on the right wing, and has even played at wing-back, with pace and explosive dribbling being his best qualities.
The 20-year-old was among the best Bundesliga wingers for accurate crosses, chances created, duels won, touches in the opposition box and possession won in the final third per 90 last term.
He featured twice at the World Cup before the Ivorians were knocked out by Norway, and has two goals in nine appearances for his country so far.
Could Harvey Barnes' sale be agreed as Toure arrives at Newcastle?
Barnes enjoyed some impressive patches of form at Newcastle last season, but still struggled to nail down a place in Howe's starting eleven.
The former Leicester winger started 19 league games last season, with 16 goals and six assists in 57 appearances across all competitions.
Rumours have emerged over his future in recent months, with sources telling Football Insider that Barnes is keen to join Aston Villa this summer.
Now that Toure looks set to arrive on Tyneside in the coming days, a move away could well be accelerated for Barnes.
