Newcastle United and Matthias Jaissle have stunned their Premier League rivals in the early weeks of the 2026-27 campaign.

The Magpies are sitting ninth in the table during the international break, even drawing 2-2 with Liverpool on the opening day of the season.

Before a ball was kicked, Newcastle were predicted to be battling relegated after losing Bruno Guimaraes, Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali.

In place of those stars, fans were left stunned by some of the signings, such as Aladji Bamba, 20, Sean Steur, 18, and Bazoumana Toure, 20.

Jaissle appears to have pulled everything together very quickly, though, and the atmosphere at St James' Park is overall very positive.

With all of this in mind, Football Insider has taken a look at three players who have seen their valuations skyrocket in the early stages of the season.

Yoane Wissa

After arriving from Brentford on a £55million, Yoane Wissa's injury issues caused plenty of debate over the club potentially cashing in straight away.

Fastforward to the 2026-27 campaign, and the 30-year-old centre-forward is already showing fans exactly why he was signed.

Finally, Wissa has exploded.

Amar Dedic

Amar Dedic's injury, causing him to miss the win over Hull City, has highlighted just how important he's been since signing across the dotted line.

In six games, he already has three assists, and has added another line of defence to the backline. Newcastle's £30m deal looks like an absolute bargain now.

Anthony Elanga

Anthony Elanga has been an enigma until now. Big things were expected when he signed from Nottingham Forest in July 2025.

But with four goal contributions in 49 games last term, he was a huge letdown. This season, he is already showing what he can do in Jaissle's system.
