Three Aberdeen stars McInnes must swoop for if appointed Rangers boss
COMMENT
Rangers could be set to finally end their search for a new manager, according to reports, with the Gers ready to approach Aberdeen for boss Derek McInnes this week.
According to the Daily Record, the Gers will make their move this week to recruit Pedro Caixinha's successor, six weeks after sacking the now-Cruz Azul manager.
With the January transfer window weeks away from opening, McInnes could return to Pittodrie to snatch some of the star he has worked with in the Granite City.
After overtaking Aberdeen in second-place in the Scottish Premiership on goal-difference after Sunday's 2-1 Pittodrie win, the Gers will be desperate to secure second in the Scottish Premiership in the short-term.
The 46-year-old would understandably look for some familiarity in a playing squad which currently only has two members who McInnes has worked with previously - Ryan Jack and Danny Wilson.
McInnes would almost certainly be given money to spend in the new year as the Ibrox giants look to close the gap to Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership in the second-half of the season.
With the Dons having their most successful spell in two decades, McInnes could face a fight if he tries to recruit any of Aberdeen's stars.

Kenny McLean
McLean has long been linked with a move to Ibrox and could put agree a pre-contract deal with the Light Blues shortly after telling Aberdeen he plans to leave in the summer.
Rangers are maybe a bit heavy on numbers in central midfield with Ryan Jack, Graham Dorrans, Jordan Rossiter, Jason Holt and Ross McCrorie featuring in the middle of the park so far this season.
The ex-St. Mirren star could still be a good signing and McInnes has definitely got more than his money's worth out of the midfielder at Pittodrie.
The stunning playmaker is boyhood Rangers fan so wouldn't likely take much convincing to swap Pittodrie for Ibrox.

Graeme Shinnie
Shinnie's brother Andrew made a handful of appearances in the Rangers first-team and Graeme could follow suit if McInnes wants to bring him to Ibrox.
Comfortable in a number of positions, Shinnie could either come in at left-back or offer more depth in midfield.
With Declan John only on loan and Lee Wallace spending more and more time out injured every season, the Gers probably need to look at the left-back position as a priority.
The enforcer was handed the captain's armband at the Dons after Ryan Jack was stripped of it by McInnes last season but would make a brilliant addition to the Ibrox side.

Stevie May
The Dons striker hasn't really lived up to the hype that surrounded him earlier in his career - although after a couple of serious injuries it's a bit more understandable.
May returned to Scottish football over the summer after a torrid time in England and is doing well for the Dons.
He's never likely to score goals at a prodigious rate like a Kris Boyd or Ally McCoist but would offer something different to the Gers' front-line and could make a decent long-term replacement for Kenny Miller.
A move to Ibrox also get him out of that ridiculous 'May 83' jersey with the Gers probably a bit less willing to celebrate Aberdeen winning something.
In other Rangers news, Chris Sutton has made a very bold claim about this Tuesday decision from the Gers.
