Tottenham are planning to sell Davinson Sanchez this summer regardless of the identity of the new manager, Football Insider has learned.

Spurs have long identified a new senior central defender as a priority going into the next transfer window.

A Tottenham source has told Football Insider that the club want to offload Sanchez, 24, and will listen to offers for him.

The club's recruitment team led by Steve Hitchen, who was chief scout when Sanchez was signed in 2017, are compiling a shortlist of centre-back targets to replace the Colombian.

Spurs will struggle to secure a huge fee for Sanchez even though he has three years left on his contract.

He has been a regular in defence during his four years at Spurs but his recklessness and lack of composure infuriated Jose Mourinho.

Tellingly, he has not had a minute of action in the club's last five Premier League matches, including Ryan Mason's three games in charge.

Sanchez joined in 2017 for a then-club record fee rising to £42million and is the second-most expensive signing in Spurs' history behind Tanguy Ndombele.

Sanchez is one of the four senior centre-backs at Tottenham along with Toby Alderweireld, Eric Dier and last summer's arrival Joe Rodon.

The Colombian has made 16 Premier League starts among 31 appearances in all competitions this campaign.

He has played 148 times in total for Spurs during his four seasons at the club.
