Nicolas Pepe and two other Arsenal stars expected to exit after Sky reveal - Campbell
Kevin Campbell expects Nicolas Pepe, Bernd Leno and Hector Bellerin to have left Arsenal by the end of the current transfer window.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gunners and Everton striker suggested the club will wait until the end of the summer to sell players to avoid being “shortchanged.”
Arsenal have made five signings this summer – Gabriel Jesus, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Fabio Vieira, Matt Turner, Marquinhos all arriving on permanent deals.
Speaking to Sky Sports (25 July), Gunner technical director Edu confessed “it is a challenge” to “find clubs” for players who are surplus to requirements.
Alexandre Lacazette, Matteo Guendouzi, Konstantinos Mavropanos and Daniel Ballard are the only four notable players to leave the Emirates this summer.
When asked by Football Insider if Pepe, Leno and Bellerin would likely follow, Campbell said: “I expected business to be done for these three later on, near the end of the window.
“If Arsenal tried to make too many moves now, teams will want to cheapen the deal. Let’s say Arsenal want £15million for Leno. Fulham will come out and offer £10million and shortchange us.
“We have a top-quality German international goalkeeper there. All if takes is for one club to have an injury and then Leno is in place.
“I don’t expect those players to be at the club come next season or the end of the transfer window.
“Arsenal have already got rid of a lot recently, let’s be honest. This window was about getting players in and then moving and shaking come the end of the window.”
