'No thanks', 'Bit underwhelming' - Leeds fans react on Twitter to reported interest in 23-year-old

By Harvey Byrne

Leeds fans on Twitter have aired their concerns after reports claimed on Saturday that the Yorkshire giants were interested in signing Malmo’s young striker Pawel Cibicki.

Swedish news outlet Aftonbladet have claimed on their website on Saturday morning that the Elland Road outfit had made a bid worth £1.5million for the 23-year-old.

Thomas Christiansen’s side are reportedly on the lookout for a new forward after the departure of former star Chris Wood to Burnley and they have already added teenager Jay-Roy Grot to their ranks last week.

However, Leeds fans on social media are worried about the link to Cibicki, who has bagged just five goals in 20 matches in Sweden’s top-flight this season with many believing him not to be good enough.

One supporter simply said “no thanks”, while others stated they hope he’s not the replacement for Wood.

Leeds have already added 12 senior players to their side this summer, including permanent deals for both Pontus Jansson and Hadi Sacko since Andrea Radrizzani and Thomas Christiansen took charge.

A number of those have come across Europe and after Leeds’ unbeaten start to the 2017-18 campaign supporters will be hoping Cibicki could make a similar impact.

In other Leeds transfer news, Garry Monk has responded to this reported Whites striker bid.
