Noel Whelan believes that the often criticised Hadi Sacko done “okay” against Ipswich on Saturday afternoon and that he wasn’t helped by the pitch conditions.
The 22-year-old wing man struggled to produce once more on the right side of the pitch for his team and he was brought off the pitch after 77 minutes in Leeds’ 1-1 draw with Ipswich.
He showed good pace and trickery against the Tractory Boys, but that part of his game has never been in doubt.
However, the BBC Leeds commentator shared that he felt the on loan Frenchman done okay on a pitch which didn’t suit him.
“Sacko’s done OK today, but this isn’t a winger’s pitch,” Whelan told BBC Radio Leeds, as quoted by the BBC Leeds matchday blog (Saturday, 77 minutes into the match).
“Sears has broken with such pace and Rob Green has made a huge save to tip the ball behind for a corner. That was so easy as McGoldrick started that.”
Sacko has returned with just two goals and four assists for Leeds in 32 appearances for the club in all competitions this season after joining on loan from Portuguese outfit Sporting Lisbon in the summer.
He will be hoping to secure a permanent deal with the club as they look to secure promotion back to the top flight.
However, it is widely believed that an improvement in displays is needed if he is to earn a permanent deal at the club.
