Exclusive: North-west club want to sign Everton midfielder, clause details revealed
Everton youngster Callum Connolly is a target for Fleetwood Town after impressing on loan at Lincoln City, Football Insider can reveal.
The midfielder, 22, is currently on a season-long loan at Lincoln, but Fleetwood are keen to lure the England Under-21 international to Highbury.
An Everton source has told Football Insider that the club can trigger a mid-season recall clause in Connolly’s loan this month.
Fleetwood boss Joey Barton is looking to bolster his squad this month as he aims to maintain their push for promotion.
A source at the north-west club has told Football Insider that Connolly figures highly on his January wanted list.
The versatile youngster fits the bill for Barton as he can play in central midfield – he predominantly operates in the anchorman role – as well as slot in anywhere across the defence.

Connolly has made 15 appearances in all competitions for Lincoln so far this season and has caught the eye in League One.
He also has enjoyed four previous spells out on loan in the last few seasons with stints at Barnsley, Wigan, Ipswich and Bolton prior to his move to Lincoln.
Connolly, who has come through the youth ranks at Everton, has made one first-team appearance for the Toffees, in the Premier League against Southampton in April 2016.
He has a contract at the Merseysiders that runs until the summer of 2021.
