'Not even a 4/10' - Exclusive: Hutton rips into Rangers ace who was 'Bag of nerves' v Hearts
Alan Hutton has torn into Rangers defender George Edmundson after his performance against Hearts on Saturday afternoon.
The former Gers full-back and boyhood fan at Ibrox, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, was baffled by the 22-year-old’s display after he dazzled in the Europa League win over Braga.
The Gers were beaten 1-0 thanks to an Oliver Bozanic goal, with Edmundson lining up alongside Conor Goldson at the heart of the defence.
Hutton admits that he cannot understand why the former Oldham man was so out of sorts at Tynecastle, insisting he went from hero to zero in the space of four days.
Hutton told Football Insider: “Defensively, for instance, Edmundson came in against Braga and I thought he was amazing.
“He was everything you want your centre-half to be; commanding, powerful, strong, defending when he has to, heading the balls.

“He looked like a bag of nerves against Hearts. I don’t know what it is, is it the pitch, the atmosphere? It’s difficult to pinpoint what it is but I don’t understand how players and a team like Rangers can go from a 10 out of 10 performance to not even a 4 out of 10.”
Edmundson, who signed at Ibrox from Oldham last summer, has played 12 times for the Light Blues to date.
Gerrard has rotated between the English defender and Croatian counterpart Nikola Katic in recent weeks, while Filip Helander is closing in on a return from injury.
