'Not good enough for PL' - Exclusive: Leeds pundit rips into first-team mainstay
Noel Whelan has claimed that Kiko Casilla is not Premier League quality after the Leeds United goalkeeper made his return against Derby County on Sunday.
The former Whites and Coventry striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, wants the club to invest in a new number one this summer having achieved promotion on Friday.
Casilla made his first start since the end of February after he served the final of an eight game ban for racism against Swansea earlier this month.
Illan Meslier has impressed in his absence which has added fuel to the fire that Casilla will be surplus to requirements at Elland Road this summer.
Whelan suggested that the racism charge, inconsistent performances and the rise of Meslier have left Marcelo Bielsa with a difficult call to make.
“He has served his time but the club have got a massive decision to make,” he told Football Insider.

“I still do not think he is good enough for the Premier League.
“I still think we need a better goalkeeper between the sticks but what he did show Sunday is that he has still got something to offer. But I do not think that is as a number one.
“Meslier is only 20 and I think it is too soon for him to come up against Aguero and Harry Kane. A fantastic job up until now and he will have learned a lot but is that enough to deal with the Premier League? I do not think so.”
