'Not good enough for the PL' - Exclusive: Whelan rips into Leeds big name after win
Noel Whelan is over the moon that Marcelo Bielsa stuck with Illan Meslier tonight despite the return of Leeds United ‘number one’ Kiko Casilla.
The former Whites and Coventry striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, claimed that the 20-year-old was “fantastic” against Barnsley.
Casilla was available for selection again after he served the last of an eight-game ban for racist abuse against Swansea on Sunday.
Illan Meslier has equalled the Leeds United club record for the fewest goals conceded in first 10 appearances by a goalkeeper, a record jointly held by David Stewart in 1975 and Shane Higgs in 2009 (5 goals). #lufc

However, Bielsa opted against reinstating the keeper who has kept 15 clean sheets in 35 Championship games this season.
Meslier kept his sixth clean sheet of the season as Leeds held on to record a crucial 1-0 against Barnsley and go five points clear at the top of the Championship.
When asked by Football Insider if Meslier justified his selection, Whelan said:

“He had to stick with Meslier. Meslier was fantastic, everything that he needed to do he did.
“Whenever the corners came in he was brave and got a good punch on the ball. He is not afraid to come over bodies to relieve that pressure.
“I’m glad he did not change a thing. He deserves to keep his place.
“Kiko Casilla is not good enough for the Premier League and after everything that has happened the club need to have a long think. There is still question marks about his ability.”
Football Insider revealed in May that a host of clubs in Casilla’s native Spain could offer him an escape route out of Elland Road this summer.
When Leeds next play they could already be promoted with West Brom and Brentford both needing to win to prevent the Whites’ promotion.
In other Leeds United news, Michael Brown has told Football Insider the one condition that would be required to sign Edouard from Celtic.
