Eliaquim Mangala’s career at Everton could already be over after fears that the player, who sustained a serious knee injury in the Premier League last weekend, could be worse than thought.
The Daily Mail claimed that there are concerns over the French international’s future at the club after he had to be substituted shortly before half-time in the Toffees 3-1 win over Crystal Palace, and may have suffered cruciate knee ligament damage.
And the result of which would mean the 27-year-old would be ruled out of action until the end of the season.
Mangala only moved to Goodison Park on transfer deadline day as manager Sam Allardyce attempted to stem their problems at the rear, but that looks to have backfired now.
However, the full extent of the injury is not yet known and according to the report, medical staff at Goodison Park will continue to review the situation before the club makes their next move.
With no match until the 24th February, Everton have some time to assess the matter.
But supporters of the Blues have not been overly sympathetic to the news of the injury.
One fan said, Thank god,’ and another stated, ‘He WON’T be missed.’
Off the pitch, it has not been a good week for the club, with Sandro Ramirez publicly admitting that he wants to quit the Merseysider’s and a reported £8.4million clause is already in the offing for Sevilla to accept.
The 22-year-old Spaniard only joined the club last summer but has been limited to mainly substitute appearances.
Here is a selection of social media responses to the news:
Not been impressed with what I’d seen anyway.

Everyone can see he’s nowhere near good enough yet Allardyce signs him and plays him. Further evidence that we need a new manager, pronto!

Can we send him back to his parent club? Or are we responsible for nursing long-term injured players for Man City as well as Chelsea?
