Nottingham Forest backed to sign 'top-class' Jesse Lingard ally after confirmed news - Campbell

Kevin Campbell has backed Nottingham Forest to sign Aaron Ramsey this summer.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Forest and Arsenal striker said the 31-year-old would be “an asset to any team” despite his injury record.

Ramsey is available on a free transfer after his contract at Juventus was mutually terminated.

According to The Sun (26 July), Nottingham Forest, Crystal Palace and Fulham are interested in the Wales international.

Steve Cooper’s side have been busy in the transfer window, with Jesse Lingard the latest star to join the newly-promoted side.

When asked by Football Insider for his assessment of the news, Campbell said: “Listen, you are talking about a real quality player.

“Lingard is a quality player and Ramsey is a top-class player. He has done it on the big stage.

“If he is fit, he is an asset to any team. Juventus do not sign you if you are not good.

“He went to Rangers and showed a few things. It kind of petered out in the end though. He got a few niggles here and there because he has not played that much football in recent years. He got a taste for it though.

“I think Forest could afford to take their time with him.

“A midfield with Lingard and Ramsey would thrive. They can both score goals and they can both run all day. They would be a threat.”
