Nottingham Forest fans react on Twitter to Lansbury display for Aston Villa
By Amir Mir
Henri Lansbury started the game for Aston Villa as they were beaten 2-1 by Nottingham Forest – and fans of his former club have slated him on Twitter.
Midfielder Lansbury left the City Ground to join their Midlands rivals Villa in January and returned back to his former club on Saturday night where he suffered a defeat.
This despite Jonathan Kodjia giving the away side the lead with a brilliant curling shot but an error from Sam Johnstone allowed Britt Assombalonga to level before half time.
Gary Brazil’s side kept the majority of possession throughout the game and when Jack Grealish was sent off with 12 minutes to go Forest capitalised.
Teenager Ben Brereton fired in the winner in stoppage time to help his team secure a valuable three points.
Lansbury was taken off by manager Steve Bruce with five minutes left on the clock for winger and academy product Andre Green.
Forest fans on Twitter believe he slowed things down for Villa in midfield as they were glad that he left their club.
On the other hand, others joked that his head was not in the right place, after Lansbury made those similar comments while trying to push through a move to Villa last month.
Furthermore, another fan believes with Lansbury no longer part of their team, they are looking a much better outfit.
Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:
I must apologise to all #avfc fans for #nffc ripping you off with regards to Lansbury. 10 points without him shows what a hinderence he was

For me it wasn't about making Lansbury eat humble pie tonight it was about a much needed win but also 1st goal for Ben Brereton #nffc

Watching Lansbury made me realise that Im he's left. Prancing around arrogantly yet slowed everything down for Villa. Good riddance. #NFFC
