Nottingham Forest lead race to sign Arnaut Danjuma after direct talks
Steve Cooper has held direct talks with Villarreal attacker Arnaut Danjuma over a potential Nottingham Forest move, sources have told Football Insider.
Villarreal are open to letting the Netherlands international leave this month and he has been in the UK for talks with interested parties.
The forward, 25, is wanted by multiple Premier League clubs this month, including Everton, Aston Villa, Bournemouth, Tottenham and Forest.
It is believed that Forest and Danjuma’s former club Bournemouth are convinced they are currently in the driving seat to land him by January’s deadline.
Despite their raft of summer signings, Forest are on the lookout for another forward amid doubts over the future of Emmanuel Dennis.
Danjuma has scored 22 goals in 51 games for Villarreal and has produced some electrifying performances in La Liga and the Champions League.
He swapped England for Spain in 2021 after completing a £21.3million move from Bournemouth to Villarreal.
During his two years with the Cherries, Danjuma spent one season in the Premier League and one in the Championship, scoring 15 goals across the two campaigns.
Prior to his spell in England, Danjuma’s career started at Dutch clubs Jong PSV and NEC before he moved to Belgian side Club Brugge – the club Bournemouth paid £13.7million to in order to secure Danjuma’s signature.
Bournemouth are on the lookout for a forward once again having only scored 18 goals in the Premier League so far, while Nottingham Forest have also struggled to find the net with just 15 goals this season.
