Nottingham Forest are trying to sign up to four new players on what promises to be a dramatic day of deadline day action, according to a reliable journalist.

Nottingham Post correspondent Paul Taylor took to Twitter on Tuesday morning to report that Forest are working on a quadruple transfer blitz.

Taylor claimed on his personal Twitter account that Forest are in talks to sign Ipswich skipper Luke Chambers on a permanent deal and are set to announce a loan move for Benfica winger Joao Teixeira.

He also revealed that one, and possibly, two more signings could join the manager-less Championship club.

One of the new men will not be West Ham sensation Reece Oxford, who appears to have snubbed Forest and Rangers to move to Championship promotion hopefuls Reading.

One of those is likely to be Chesterfield attacker Gboly Ariyibi, with Taylor later reporting that the 22-year-old is at the club for talks and a medical.

Forest's need for new blood is demonstrated by a lowly league position, with last Wednesday's defeat at Leeds leaving them 19th in the table, a perilous five points above the drop zone.

The crisis-hit Championship outfit, who have lost out in their bid to appoint Nigel Clough as the new manager, have recently seen takeover talks collapse after US tycoon John Jay Moores pulled out following extensive discussions.

In other Nottingham Forest transfer news, the club are looking for a reunion with this 31-year-old.
