Nottingham Forest have confirmed the departure of the club’s former director of football Kyriakos Dourekas, sources have told Football Insider

As per a Companies House submission on Monday (5 August), it has been revealed Dourekas is no longer a Forest director and his employment at the City Ground has ended.

The Montreal-born man joined the Premier League side in December 2018 after previously spending 25 years with Olympiakos.

Dourekas was appointed as Forest’s director of football by owner Evangelos Marinakis following their work together at the Greek club.

The 61-year-old was added to the board of directors at the City Ground in March 2022 and has been praised for the improvements he’s overseen to the first team, academy, stadium and training ground operations.

Dourekas is believed to have played a key role in helping Forest secure their long-awaited return to the Premier League in 2022.

Nottingham Forest secured Premier League survival despite PSR issues

Forest’s board is now made up of co-owner Sokratis Kominakis, chairman Tom Cartledge, director Ioannis Vrentzos as well as non-executive directors Jonny Owen, Simon Forster and Nicholas Randall KC.

Ross Wilson has been heading up the football operations after he joined the Nottingham club from Rangers in April 2023 as chief football officer.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side will be competing in the Premier League once again in the upcoming campaign after they fought off relegation last season despite being hit with a four-point deduction for breaching the profit and sustainability rules (PSR).

Forest were believed to be close to the PSR limit again for 2023-24, but the last-ditch sales of Orel Mangala and Moussa Niakhate to Lyon as well as Odysseas Vlachodimos's move to Newcastle United before the 30 June accounting deadline are expected to see them meet the financial regulations.
