Nottingham Forest to fear fully fit Bruno Guimaraes as key to Newcastle United victory clear

Bruno Guimaraes appears to be the key to Newcastle United continuing their winning run against Nottingham Forest this weekend.

The Magpies travel to the City Ground on Sunday 10, May, to face a tired Forest, with the hope of securing another three points after putting three goals past Brighton.

Eddie Howe’s side had been on a five-game losing streak before that, results which have seen them sink to 13th in the Premier League table, putting the manager under significant pressure.

While all reports suggest that Howe’s future is safe at St James’ Park, Newcastle beating Forest would go a long way towards helping him with the supporters and, certainly, the current morale of the squad.

Bruno Guimaraes looks ready to lead Newcastle United into battle

Players are bound to be disappointed by the team’s form in recent weeks. Even more so, Guimaraes was heartbroken by the news of Lewis Miley’s injury.

The Brazilian has experienced his fair share of issues off the pitch this season, missing several key games since the turn of the year, but he nearly managed the full 90 minutes against the Seagulls.

He even grabbed an assist for Dan Burn’s header to double Newcastle’s lead, and the same will be expected of him when Howe’s side visit the City Ground on Sunday.

Vitor Pereira’s side are bound to be frightened to come up against a team with a fully fit Guimaraes in the middle of the park, especially given his previous record versus the Reds since his arrival in England.

How has the superstar performed against Nottingham Forest previously?

Guimaraes is clearly a lucky charm when it comes to playing Forest, having never been on the losing side in seven meetings since his £35million arrival at St James’ Park.

With six wins, three goals and one assist, the 28-year-old clearly holds the key to victory at the City Ground, and he appears to have returned to full fitness over the past couple of games.

He, Sandro Tonali and Joelinton are a dynamic trio in the middle of the park, one of the best midfield trios in the Premier League, and there is still time for the Magpies to climb the table before the season ends.

Despite sitting in 13th, Newcastle are just six points off the current European qualification spots with three games remaining, so the players need to give it their all against Forest, West Ham and Fulham.
