Nottingham Forest in three-horse race for 24-year-old centre-back, contract ends in six months - report
By Will Butcher
Nottingham Forest are set to rival Wolves and Bolton to sign MVV Maastricht captain Nick Kuipers, according to a report.
Dutch publication Fox Sports revealed that a whole host of Premier League sides were also interested in the 24-year-old, who has entered the last six months of his contract.
League One outfit Bolton are believed to be in pole position to sign Kuipers despite Championship and top-flight interest in the impressive centre-back.
Second-tier side MVV are desperate to keep their skipper, who has played for the Dutch minnows since graduating from their academy and making his debut back in August 2010.
Wearing the number two shirt, Kuipers has helped his side keep seven clean sheets in his 22 league appearances this term as MVV sit in a lofty fourth position in the Eerste Division.

Forest are after defensive additions to their side in order to plug the gap at the back which has seen the two-time European Cup champions concede 47 goals in 28 league games.
Bringing Kuipers, who offers a commanding presence at the back at 6ft 3in,to the City Ground would help solidify Forest as they look to fire themselves away from a relegation battle if they act quickly and sign him on transfer deadline day.
Football Insider verdict:
Currently playing in a league that would be considered a large step down from the second tier of English football, Kuipers could be considered as a risky signing as he is still an unknown in the top tier of Dutch football, let alone on these shores. However, with six months remaining on his current deal, he is likely to be available at a knock-down price and that could suit Forest who are likely to be keen to add defensive reinforcements to their squad. Captaining MVV, Kuipers is known for his leadership abilities and would be a dominant voice in the dressing room at the City Ground, and it’s exactly that sort of player that Forest need at the moment.
