Nottingham Forest are once again interested in Davide Frattesi, sparking questions over why the club could be so keen on the Inter Milan midfielder.

This is not the first window that the Reds have been linked with Frattesi's signature, and if a deal isn't done this summer, it is unlikely to be the last.

Despite notching just zero goals and two assists in 2025-26, falling down the pecking order quite dramatically at Inter, the 26-year-old has previously been a goalscoring machine.

Loved for his jinking runs, late charges into the box, and smart finishes inside the area, Frattesi has the potential to be a huge star in the Premier League next season.

It is understood that he is back on Forest's radar after they failed to sign him during the winter transfer window, and many are wondering exactly what he would bring to the team.

Understandably, with all the big names in Serie A, Frattesi can often be overlooked, but the Reds have spotted something special in him, and that might be his goal catalogue.

Davide Frattesi underrated for season-defining moments

When the going gets tough, players can often shy away from challenges, but not Frattesi. No, he takes them head on and makes himself the headline.

During Inter's 2023-24 season, in which they lifted their 20th Serie A title, he scored an incredibly key winner against Udinese in the fifth minute of added time.

While it was a tap-in, he had the awareness to be in the right place at the right time, and that is just the first in his impressive catalogue of goals.

During the 2024-25 Champions League campaign, the Italy international came off the bench against Bayern Munich to score an away goal in the quarter-finals, which eventually saw the German giants knocked out in the second leg.

Then, in the next round, he scored the most important goal of his career. After a wild 3-3 draw between Inter an Barcelona, Frattesi fired home his side's fourth in extra time, sealing their spot in the Champions League final.

With countless goals to his name over the span of his career, there will be so many more impressive strikes, but these three are by far the most defining of his footballing life.

Inter Milan's lifesaver nearly never became a footballer

It has been a wild ride for Frattesi, and given his lack of opportunites at Inter right now, it would make sense for him to jump at the chance of Premier League football.

It may have never worked out for the talented midfielder, however.

Before committing to football, he was a very keen tennis player, one that idolised Roger Federer, with the player training for both sports.

He eventually chose football, and Inter will be glad that he did, given the important moments that he has experienced during his three seasons with the Scudetto champions.
